Embodied Cognition
Approaches that understand cognition through bodily action and environmental interaction.
Embodied approaches study cognition through bodily processes, action, and interaction with an environment. Minding the Moving Self discusses movement and human self-modeling.[1]
Gallagher and Varga’s review emphasizes plural explanations of social cognition and cautions against one account explaining all autistic experience; only its institutional abstract was checked here.[2] Gallese, Rochat, and Berchio discuss the mirror mechanism as a proposed component of social cognition, with controversies explicitly considered.[3]
These human research contexts do not establish that an AI requires a biological body, that a robot experiences consciousness, or that embodiment solves AI Alignment. Comparisons must distinguish biological evidence from computational analogies.
